How it is calculated
What a 13F is. The form on which managers running more than US$ 100 million disclose their US stock positions to the SEC, four times a year. It is filed up to 45 days after each quarter ends. More about the 13F.
Who the concentrated managers are. Of everyone filing a 13F, only concentrated managers are counted here: 703 with a portfolio this quarter. The group is defined by the shape of the portfolio (5 to 100 stocks, at least 45% in the top 10 positions and low turnover), not by size, fame or results: it includes small firms and filers with an unverified type, and each one weighs the same. Operating companies, banks, foundations, pension funds and private equity are left out when a document tells us so. See the methodology.
Who the well-known investors are. A different, much smaller group: the 47 investors with their own page on the site (Buffett, Ackman, Tepper…), hand-picked because they are the most followed. They do not come from a rule and are not “the best”, and some are not concentrated managers. They appear under the person's name or, if the page does not carry it, the firm's. See the list.
How it is counted. For each stock we count how many concentrated managers held it at the end of the previous quarter and how many at the end of this one; the order is by the difference. “Opened”: they did not hold it and now do; “exited”: they sold it entirely. “No comparable data”: managers whose previous portfolio cannot be compared (first 13F, or they did not file), plus spin-offs and corporate exits. Opened − exited ± no comparable data always equals the difference shown. What it does not measure: not dollars, shares or the size of each purchase (a 0.1% position counts the same as a 20% one). A stock can rank first with more new holders while most of those who already held it are trimming. They are commonly called “most bought” and “most sold”; here they are named after what they count.
How overlaps are measured. We look at material moves by well-known investors (those with their own page on the site). “Agree on buying”: two or more bought it and none sold. “Agree on selling”: two or more sold it and none bought. “Split”: some bought what others sold.
It is a snapshot of a quarter that has already closed. Portfolios are as of June 30, 2026 and became public up to August 14, 2026, the filing deadline. They may have changed since. A 13F does not include short positions, bonds, cash or stocks not listed in the United States.
